In the short time span since my birth, this country, my home, the United States, has changed in fantastic and frightening ways. From the tech revolution and the overall improvements of daily life, to the reductions of speech and the loss critical thought in public discourse, all of this is changing America. While change is necessary to prevent stagnation and entropy, how much change is necessary? When does the change harm the patient; how much change is too much?
At this moment, the current revolutionary fervor is pushing too hard, pushing too fast, without forethought or prudence, let alone rhyme or reason. When the calls for defunding the police grow louder, the calls for a socialist worker’s paradise become bolder, the desire intensifies to retreat from the important cornerstones of American prosperity, including our Founding documents and our current national armaments, it is impossible to not be alarmed by it all. This isn’t change, this is a descent into madness.
This blog desires to be a safe refuge for those who wish to ponder, reflect and churn through ideas, ideas that are both realistic, while remaining true to Anglo-American thought. Not all of this blog will be about current events, not all of it will be dour and serious, but the desire is to have something that both excites the mind and engages the imagination (all while hopefully providing some entertainment, which written works all too often overlook). Facts, truth, reason and logic need not be condemned to either tediousness and/or boredom.
Most importantly though, this author is concerned with reminding the American (and Western) people, who they really are, even in this time of national identity crisis. All those who came before us shall be remembered, and even if they aren’t mentioned directly, many of the posts placed here will have the ideals of these patriots and heroes interwoven into the words and sentences typed, because even the most current event has had some relationship to the past, and without memory there is no reason to continue the struggle. Forgetting these relations to the past is possibly the most dangerous enemy in the current ideological and cultural struggle we have today, and to merely shake aside this worry will only lead to greater conflict and despair in the future. Keeping America as America is the last hope we all have, if freedom and justice are the aims we truly desire.
Honest and frank discussion, writing, thinking and debating, are the only ways we as a civilization can hope to attain even greater pinnacles of excellence. By either shunting this candidness, or just avoiding the battlefield of ideas altogether, Western life cannot continue for long. To save Western civilization, we all must play our part and act like our Western heritage promotes, and actually participate in the debate all around us. Should enough people of good will and courageous hearts do so, we give ourselves a fighting chance, which is all anyone can ask for…
With that said, I hope you enjoy this blog and know that while this author has a fairly staunch point of view, this is not to exclude others. Instead, for those who disagree in particular, take these posts as a challenge, either to change or reinforce your point of view. So long as you have put your reason into action, and have given sincere thought to the matters at hand, then I shall have been successful in this modest undertaking.
Sincerely, your humble servant,
Winston Publius
